July 21 – Well hell. If you're not aware of it, there was a bad storm here in St. Louis on Wednesday and I've been without power since then. I'm still without power, but thanks to the laptop and a wi-fi point, I'm able to put this message out here. The local power company (AmerenUE) has no clue when power will be restored. Yes, I'd definitely say they're clueless. There are still over 11,000 people without power just in my zip code. So what does it say about things when at 7:30am today there were 10,000 w/out power in my area which then jumped to 11,007 an hour later? It's now 5pm and they've fixed 7 residences in this area today. There are over 500,000 residences/businesses without power here and every hotel is totally booked in the greater STL region. When I checked last night, the closest hotels were in Columbia, MO and Springfield, IL (1.5 to 2 hours drive away). Odds are, this will be status quo for a while, as I doubt there will be power in my area till the middle of next week at the earliest. Of course, all the files I had prepared are on my desktop machine at home, so I can't post anything new till power is restored. Bear with me, y'all, as soon as I can, I will get new stuff uploaded.
